I don’t know… when has fascism ever been a dealbreaker for all Americans?

Was it during the Native American genocide?

During slavery?

Segregation?

During the current genocide in Gaza?

When?

    Americans were who did this, and literally millions more would’ve loved to be there. We can cry out “How was this not the end of it!?” as much as we want, but that’s just ignoring the huge amount of people in our midst who were hoping it was the beginning.

    My own mother lamented her poor health preventing her from attending Jan 6th, and that same woman cried in horror when Trump was first elected; 4 years was all it took for her to go from lifelong democrat to hardcore republican conspiracy theorist.

    Trump’s entire political career has been based in use of misinformation to trick people into believing he should be president. He’s essentially the presidential candidate version of an IRS gift card phone scam.

    Ho Chi Minh knew all about America’s history of slavery and genocide.

    He was happy to assist the Americans in their war on Japan.

    1/3 of any country, any time, would be happy with fascism. America’s problem is that our government systems aren’t as resistant to it as they should be; if that 1/3 are in the right states they can elect the president.

    1/3 will always fight against fascism, and 1/3 don’t really care most of the time. Hopefully they do right now.

    @aral@mastodon.ar.al I’m not American but I know that not ‘all’ of you accept those brutal markers in your history as being acceptable.
    Your problem though with the fascists of 2024, are a bunch of people who have no policies apart from a manifesto to rip your country apart piece by piece and led by a total maniac whose a traitor to the state

    @aral@mastodon.ar.al
    ‘America’ is the Eurocentric name of the double continent (aka Abya Yala), not the imperium. I always use ‘USAmericans’ for clarity.
