Anyone have any recommendations on organizations to donate to that do similar work (ones that do it better obviously)? I’m all for boycotting bigots but just keeping money I would otherwise give to charity doesn’t exactly feel great.

I’ve been just shifting it to my local day center but, I’d be interested in a bigger organization that could hopefully take the place of the S.A. rather than just seeing what help they do offer just disappear.

Hey, I stayed at one of their homeless shelters. You should donate just for that. Where else will you get rotten food? Whose going to talk shit about you? Whose going to throw your fragile possessions during check in and treat what little you have as a toy?

Don’t you want people to have bloodstained linens to sleep on? How else are people going to stand in 110F heat for fucking hours while the idiot Berber Christians have their meetings?

I really appreciated how little time I spent there, how little I interacted with others, how little I asked, but I was always met with annoyance and contempt when I did ask for something. Like please may I have a pillow case not covered in blood? I know it’s a lot to ask!

They always walked away knowing they were good christians so good luck speaking up. The shelter ran by ex prisoners was much less degrading.

I tried to donate to st Vincent’s, and they only seemed interested in taking what they could sell and make money from. There was no interest in anything that was perfectly usable, but they could give away (my pots).

Anyone in the same boat should just put it onto Facebook marketplace for free. It’s so much easier honestly

It was suspected the the Salvation Army has an outwardly opposition to the letter gang and discriminated accordingly. So much so that Chik-Fil-A dropped their contract with them.

However, i have not been able to find any direct examples of discrimination. That is not me saying they don’t exist. Just haven’t found anything substantial

What is the letter gang? DDG isn’t returning anything specific.

“The Alphabet Mafia” and similar is not an uncommon joke in queer spaces.

You change society by transgressing. That’s literally what being queer is all about! That’s why it’s ‘queer’ and not ‘totally conformist’.

I wear a Be Gay Do Crime pink triangle pin at work, and I am proud. Letter Gang rise up and take human decency by force.

Haha, really? The last time I checked, there was nothing against calling the LGBTQIA+ community the letter gang. Just the alphabet gang. Plus, it’s 3 syllables vs. 8. It’s easier to say and type. And now I’m going to keep using it just to piss you off specifically. At least until someone speaks to me respectfully and asks me not to use it with a good argument of why not to.
