Summary

Texas voters awarded Donald Trump the state’s 40 electoral votes, continuing its long-standing Republican streak since 1976. Gov. Greg Abbott celebrated the win, praising Trump as the candidate Texans trust to address issues like inflation and border security.

Texas, while not considered a swing state, has seen Democrats attempting to make inroads by mobilizing younger, diverse voters and appealing to moderates. However, Republicans have downplayed Democratic progress, pointing to recent substantial losses by high-profile Democratic candidates like Wendy Davis and Beto O’Rourke.
