Based on Text Mapper [https://alexschroeder.ch/wiki/Text_Mapper], I have created a plugin which generates SVG hex maps directly in your Obsidian.md [https://obsidian.md/] documents. The above image was generated by getting the source for an Alpine map from Hex Describe [https://alexschroeder.ch/wiki/Hex_Describe] and then pasting that into my plugin in Obsidian. It took probably 10 seconds to render this whole image, but it is much snappier for smaller maps.
This is not yet part of Obsidian's Community Plugins, and I'm not sure when I'll put it up there. I want to minimize support requests from the general public, therefore I'd want the plugin to be able to export the rendered SVG to a file before I'd consider it ready for prime time.
You can install the plugin manually using the instructions here: https://github.com/modality/obsidian-text-mapper [https://github.com/modality/obsidian-text-mapper]
Saw this posted on Mastodon. I haven’t had a chance to try it yet but it looks intriguing!
