My cat keeps waking me up. Causing me to have a grumpy day. If my cat or any animal was prevented normal sleep would they get grumpy/agitated like humans?

They do. I have cats and worked on giving them active periods in the day so they would quit waking me up all night. They were grumpy lil buggers for a bit. They now have settled into getting up midday for a playfest that keeps them from reigning chaos through the night.

Get out toys and treats and play. I’m a crazy cat lady too, so I have a stroller to go on walks in, harnesses to go out in the yard with. At first they would fall over, just lay in the grass, had to throw treats on their head to get em moving. Starting younger helps, no bad habits to fix.

My dog does. He also gets really annoyed if the lights are on past his bedtime.

I also would like to know the answer to this. Any brave soul volunteering to keep their cat up for 24 hours to find out?

Definitely. My current tomcat is a total diva and if I dare to wake him up during his midday nap, he will sulk for up to an hour… which I can’t help but find funny because he also wants that I know that he is cranky, so he follows me everywhere to make sure that I notice just how hard he is ignoring me. (“Hey human, look at me while I’m giving you the cold shoulder!”) …it’s unvoluntarily adorable.

I’ve also had pets that legit didn’t care tho. Different pets, different personalities.

Related - My dog is reactive to begin with. When she gets tired, usually around 9pm, she can be very aggressive. Figured out that putting a blanket over her and leaving her alone keeps everyone sane.
