The Violet Evergarden follows the story of a post-war child soldier Violet trying to become an Auto Memory Doll, a ghostwriter for illiterate clients. Violet attends the Auto Memory Doll Training School in order to become a true doll. However, she initially failed the test because she lost both her arms in the war, causing her to struggle using her mechanical prosthetic arms to type using a typewriter. She ultimately succeeds after support and help from her fellow doll trainee, Luculia.

Um actually … Violet doesn’t struggle with the typewriter. She was very adept at the typing, but was unable to reflect the client’s feelings in her writing, due to her inability to fully understand emotions. And that is the also the reason she failed initially
