I want to see so much reparations.

Reparations to non-violent criminals for imprisonment

Reparations to global south counties for climate destruction

Reparations to indigenous communities for stealing their land and genocide their ancestors

Reparations to Palestinians for supporting their degredation and expulsion

Collectivization all wealth under dictatorship of the proletariat will give reparations to the marginalized by default, by virtue of evening out the wealth for everyone! Not saying specific attention to marginalized groups is not needed of course, but I consider that a critical element within collectivization.

Because honestly, the US owes so many reparations that it wouldn’t possibly be able to afford to pay them and still exist. The point needs to be driven home to people that reparations will require the dismantling of the empire, not the continuation of it.

Correct. Decolonization requires the destruction of Western governments as we see them now. Note that this is entirely different from destruction of the people, it absolutely does not entail eye for an eye, kill all whites shit like anticommunists/antidecolonizers keep strawmanning about, that would not be decolonization but reverse colonization/revenge, but the current socioeconomic structures and status quo need to go and societal priorities and paradigms need to be massively shifted, AKA a cultural revolution.

The racist conservative European immigrants are still claiming that reparations to the North American Indigenous First Nations for the 150 years of widespread enslavement and uncheck savage violence against children of Indigenous landowners in Indian Residential fake schools are bad, because the racist white servants of the anti-Christ dictate that reparation are free money. They disciples of Satan among the conservative European immigrants demand the removal of Indian status so the First Nation people will lose their landownership right, rent collection right (which often occur in the form of overdue government services), debt collection right, and right to collect reparation for the child enslavement and savage indoctrination in residential fake schools. Since the First Nation people will lose the fruit of their and their ancestor’s labor if they leave the federal reserve prisons, the backward racist Satan-worshipping European immigrants are dumping all their toxic factory chemicals (which contain components of chemicals weapon that British used in WW1) and poisonous landfills into the federal reserves to poison the food and water supplies in an effort to force Indigenous people to forfeit the fruit of their labor and of the labor fo their ancestors.

In a roundabout way it would, because it’s not happening unless there’s a revolution. So if there are reparations, you’re already taking about conditions in which the system is being changed.

Reparations would be more palatable if they were disbursed to the lower classes without regard for race.

As in, socialist redistribution of wealth?

No, black people’s generational wealth is the one that has been stolen with slavery, then segregation, then Jim Crow laws and then systematic racism. In order to help black people even have a fighting chance compared to the average white household, reparations are needed particularly for blacks.

So we leave out the homeless guy on the verge of death, because he’s white. And we make sure Kanye and Oprah still get cut in?

The goal should be for a basic standard of living for everyone, not ensuring that rich people of color get the appropriate bump in their investment accounts.

Tbh who cares? Whenever any wealth redistribution plan gets brought up there’s always so much concern that money doesn’t get spent on the “wrong people.” And as a result of that we end up creating a fuckton of bureaucracy to verify and gatekeep who is and isn’t worthy of getting help, which invariably costs more than if we just… didn’t do that.

Give Kanye and Oprah a check, whatever, I’d rather them get some money than spend an order of magnitude more on red tape

Black people have been and continue to be subjugated for being black though. Let’s not pretend like exploitation in the US isn’t race-based.

Of course our goal is liberation for all, but let’s be real, any attempts at justice will necessarily assist black people especially, because they have been treated especially poorly for centuries.

You mean the rainbow coalition? It was multiracial and was led by black revolutionaries and emphasized black justice. So I dunno why you’re insisting that black reparations and multiracial equity are mutually exclusive. They’re not.

Also it didn’t succeed because its leaders were assassinated and the movement got broken up by the feds. Reparations haven’t happened because racism is profitable for capitalists, not because people haven’t organized hard enough.

Wtf are you talking about. First Nations people’s have had this land collectively as sovereign nations for millennia its new that they only have their limited reservations. As US hegemony falls and ecosystems collapse they will only fight harder for their rightful land back. They are a great ally we have historically missed out on allying with. In terms of New Africa they have been an internal colony from the start, imported from Africa to work as slaves. They continue to be enslaved doing prison labor. They have fought for self determination from the start. From slave revolts to the Black Panthers to BLM. The ruling class has always been more scared by Black Nationalism than settler reformism. Socialist projects have always been decolonial from the USSR freeing the “prison house of nations” to China fighting Japanese colonialism, to Burkina Faso or Angola fighting against French colonialism, to Vietnam fighting French and US colonialism. The US revolution must be decolonial to, to right the particular wrongs of our horrible government and fight according to material conditions. Please go read the Red Deal or something like that.

“Just assimilate into the nation that has been historically raping you, historically lynching you, historically thieving EVERY LAST MOTE OF LABOR IN EVERY MUSCLE FIBER OF YOUR BODY, and destroying your history while they’re at it! That’s the only realistic move” cracker do you hear yourself

Shit like this is exactly why I believe we need our own nation, and would literally rather be liquidated than consider assimilation. This reductionist horseshit always gets trotted out whether we start talking the need for self-determination and sovereignty as a nation unto ourselves, or whether we’re talking just reparations to keep the median income of Black households from hitting zero within my fucking lifetime. Which need I remind you, is that way because of the systems that white supremacist capitalism have been erecting around us since the intentional failure of Reconstruction; thank you, Andrew fucking Johnson. Has been that way, since almost every ‘stronghold’ of accrued money in our community got burned by roving lynch mobs. But y’know, “just assimilate into the nation that’s killing you by the bucketful”.

Jesus fucking Christ. Like-- you really want me and my community to just. Throw our collective lot in with the settler-left of a nation that can’t even FULLY eradicate slavery from its Constitution, and you think your bullshit sophistry is the panacea for that? You think that’s what’s realistic? You think it’s realistic for any of us to trust a populace that can’t even be trusted to get in between a killer cop and their would-be victim?

You know that there is literally only a handful of black people who are rich and they will most likely give out their reparations to charity if they get any? Also it is called “reparations” because it is given after a harmed made. Black people’s generational wealth was stolen therefore, they are giving it back to them. It is something that was theirs, stolen and then given back.

If we do achieve socialism/communism, then we wouldn’t need reparations, but why do you want to give everyone the reparations of black people?

Did everyone get the reparations that were given to the Jews after WW2?

Your point is to discredit the policy by saying that is either everyone or no one, even though no other group was put into slavery here.

It’s a lie to pretend I said we shouldn’t do reparations.

What I actually said was that it should target the poor as a class, rather than one race.

This still benefits the races was harmed the most, because they make up a disproportionate part of the poor.

It also has two other benefits:

              • it’s easier to pass, because the poor of other races chip in to see it done.

              • It benefits those discriminated against in other ways besides race too, and doesn’t require spending on people that are already wealthy.

We need both reparations and socialism. Indigenous people get reparations because they were genocided and need the land and money to help bring humanity back into a better relationship with nature. New Afrikans need it because they were enslaved and continue to be victims of racism. Global South countries need it to deal with the environmental problems they didn’t cause. Meanwhile, what white people need is socialism. We are part of the nation that inflicted all that harm, not victims of one of those crimes beyond as a class. The solution for their plight is to simply own their own means of production. Reparations are for the colonized. Socialism is for everyone. Of course Jay Z’s getting expropriated, as a capitalist. That doesn’t mean the average non-white family doesn’t need more help than euro Amerikans.
