Shit, we’re all living in hell right now already. Just step outside, if you’re lucky enough to not be near one of the many wildfires, the weather is still hot as hell.

And that’s how you turn from a liberal thinker to an extremist. 👆👆👆

Everything (>except degrading hadefull ideas<) deserve some amount of minimal respect in a civilized society, otherwise everything is allowed and the next one pissed on will be you. 🫵

(Which fetish aside it is a bad thing. BAD)

Hard disagree. There are tons of things that deserve no respect (racism, sexism) despite being considered inherent parts of civilized societies until extremely recently. Well, for the most part they are discouraged now, but are still very widespread and often justified using religion.

Extremists like those are not culture, those are just degeneration of poor ideal or plain ignorance. What I intended was to keep a civilized approach to other beliefs. Pissing on a cross in a church is what I call “EXTREMISM”.

      Their intolerance deserves respect now?

We’re supposed to say “okay I respect that you want to take my rights away, force me to serve a god I don’t believe in and obeybdraconian religious law” and just accept that they have never respected us?

      Sorry. Respect is mutual.

so… you’re saying the people who are anti-abortion are extremists? the people shoving tracks in my hand because they think it’ll save me are extremists? the people knocking on my door despite “no solicitation”… because hey, I might be sleeping, but what’s “salvation” to a being able to drive home work later that night safely?

sorry but the christian faith mandates harassment of non-believers. evangelical christians are absolutely trampling on the rights of LGBTQ+, and women, and anybody else who doesn’t happen to hold their beliefs… and as far as christians go are fairly mainstream. No. you do not get to excuse their behavior by insisting they’re extremists.

Many anti-abortionist are extremist. Why? Because they want to force their ideals on you. Knocking at someone door is bothersome but you can just send them off as you would do to any other door to door seller. Is true that many persons “are using religion” trampling on the rights of others but “to reflect” the same intolerance on their religion don’t help anybody, create only further divisions witch people like them are “veeeery” happy to use.

              just send them off

I work nights (as noted). Would you like me to come by at 3 am and see how you like being woke up when you’re sleeping?

It’s not obnoxious - it’s dangerous. Particularly because of how frequent it is.

Freedom of religion means freedom from religion.

Further, I absolutely do not have to tolerate their intolerance. “Be nice” only works when everybody is nice- otherwise it’s just an abusive relationship.

First, urinating or burning any non-living thing is not disrespectful in its own right. Urinating on or burning many living things is also not disrespectful in its own right. The line about where burning living things is bad is different for everyone, but most people are fine with burning or urinating on live mosquitos for example.

The act of urinating on someone else’s property might be disrespectful. But it is not disrespectful to the thing. It is disrespectful to the person.

If I buy a cross and urinate on it in my own home. That is not disrespectful to anyone. Some people might take offense, but only because they are disrespectful of me and my rights. If I urinate or burn my own things in private it is not disrespectful. There is no degrading of anyone.

If I do it in public there may be some form of disrespect. This meme for example is clearly disrespectful of Christian beliefs. Beliefs do not inherently deserve respect. People deserve respect. There is no minimal level of respect an idea deserves. People (and many other living things) do deserve respect.

Actually walking into a church and urinating on their private property, regardless of what it was, should be obviously morally incorrect because it violates other people’s right to their own property and their own freedom to be left alone without interference in their private spaces.

One of the things you fail to understand is that the cathartic release of aggression in a safe community will actually lead to a less hostile mutually shared space (provided that the community doesn’t lead to radicalization).

You may be worried that this kind of material will radicalize someone and that is the point of your post. The reason I didn’t ban you outright is that this is a valid concern in general.

Recognizing the difference between what is morally acceptable in mutually shared spaces vs private spaces is a difficult thing for some people.

It is my hope that not one here would actually physically infringe on another person’s right to freedom. But I am not about to ask people to refrain from sharing their rightfully righteous anger about the way that religious organizations infringe on atheists rights daily…

For the record, I disagree that this post, or the many others like it, are radicalization risks.

As long as we can avoid radicalization and the spread of hateful ideas that’s fine. I post on this group too because i share many of the same opinion about religion and I truly don’t like to have discussions simply for the sake of pi##ing off people. Peace ✌️.

So tell that to all the religious extremists.

In fact don’t even bring this up until every church has atheist protestors. You’re arguing against atheists doing what religious people already do.

To hade a determinate person or group because they have personally done something bad is normal. To hade the whole community/race/religion to which those persons belong because of their action is just plain intolerance. Extremists can be pushed as well by bad politics and power struggles, should we then hade any living politician?

Oh I’m unapologetically intolerant of religion as a whole and personally believe that every religious person on this planet has a serious psychological issue.

But as I said talk to me when atheists start burning churches. Talk to me when atheists protest churches. Talk to me when religious people are ostracized or denied help. Talk to me when there are atheist only communities.

Being intolerant to stupidity is a great idea “on paper”. Sadly sometimes we risk to fall in the “intollerated side”. We should get down from our high horse and try to understand a bit others limits and most of all our own.

You are just portraying an extreme case, and ofk you must protect yourself and other from an “agression”. If guys dressed as Santa Claus come to loot your house you have the right to protect your own, but this don’t justify you from going in a supermarket to beat any innocent guys dressed as Santa Claus.

(Btw i don’t have horses, just a goldfish and sadly i can’t ride him.)
