It took me a while, but I finally joined !zen@lemmy.ml

But after joining all post’s comments became zero, and I can no longer see any other the other users comments (i believe these users are all lemmy.ml users). Also, I’m wondering if my comments are not visible to those users…

Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!

So the situation with lemmy.ml is very rough at the moment - their instance goes down for long periods almost daily, and they lose a bunch of outgoing messages because of that.

Right now, I think the main hope is that:

    • We can spread out the load by moving some communities off lemmy.ml (they have already disabled new community creation)
    • We can improve the efficiency of Lemmy software so it scales better under load

It’s not an ideal situation, but people are working on improvements & hopefully you’ll start seeing them in production soon!

Thanks for your reply, I ended up creating my own zen community !zen@lemm.ee at least for the time being

I see you created !zenchan after deleting !zen. Just so you know, I can restore the original !zen as well if that’s something you would be interested in!

… just so you know: If you write !zen@lemm.ee, the software will understand not to format it like an email, but like a community here.

is this when creating it, or just when searching/linking to it?

When writing about it in a comment, I think.

It didn’t work when I did it in the title of a new post.

Also, just to note, I tried making an account on lemmy.ml so that I could maybe actually contact someone from there, but it says “registration closed”…

Apologies if this isn’t the right place but I’m having a similar issue with Feddit.uk and I can see the posts but the comments are empty (whereas on feddit.uk, there are numerous). This is my first time using Lemmy so I’m not sure how it all works and whether the comments are mirrored across instances (I presume not) or whether they’re pulled at the point of viewing the post in which case maybe there is an issue. Any help would be appreciated @sunaurus@lemm.ee if you’re able to! Thanks

I am seeing greatly increased incoming messages from feddit.uk over the past few days:

Perhaps the situation has already begun improving?

I can tell you that for sure it will improve even further as soon as they upgrade to 0.18.1. There are some important federation-related changes in that patch, and we can already see with lemmy.world what a night-and-day difference these changes made.

We should sell lemmy.ml to Elon Mush, he’s learned his lesson and will do good this time
