Why? Because apparently they need some more incentive to keep units occupied. Also, even though a property might be vacant, there’s still imputed rental income there. Its owner is just receiving it in the form of enjoying the unit for himself instead of receiving an actual rent check from a tenant. That imputed rent ought to be taxed like any other income.

I’m not sitting on an empty property you absolute pencil 😂. Where did you get that from?

Commercial buildings being empty is irrelevant to there being homeless people. People can’t live in commercial buildings and storefronts. Trying to convert them to residential is not a viable solution. Building more housing is.

You’re getting too emotional and angry and letting that get in the way of your rational thinking. You’re making up imaginary situations in your head and getting angry at me for them.

Saying it’s prohibitively expensive to transform an office building into residential apartments does not mean I’m not “angry on behalf of those suffering”. You have no idea if I have a “life of privilege”, but just so we’re clear - I don’t.

Grow up and leave the insults and bullshit behind.

no, it’s even more pitiful - you’re sticking up for those who do. what’s worse, someone operating under their own selfishness, or the fucking stans that support those who do so?

you’re not capable of being one so you just stick up for them?

      fucking pitiful.

Really, that’s just a sad way to live.

Meanwhile, you accuse me of being emotional and angry when I’m just living my life over here, wondering why so many idiots defend so many greedy craven bastards.

Fwiw I’m “capable” of having an empty property if I want, but I’m happy having my tenants in my other house :). Love the attempted low, but a giant swing and a miss.

No one is defending landlords leaving houses empty rather than renting them out because that’s not what’s being discussed. We’re talking about commercial buildings that likely aren’t even legally zoned for residential purposes. No one is defending landlords in any way, simply pointing out the absurdity of your idea.

I’m accusing you of being angry and emotional because you clearly are. You’re name calling and ranting about things no one said.
