I ended up deciding to roll my own, which I realize isn’t realistic for a lot of folks, but I would suggest lemmy.world, if you haven’t already. There’s also this list here that might be helpful.

I’m thinking of doing the same, just for a few users like my and my family to interact with the rest of the world. I’m just worried how much resources this will need. How much RAM + CPU are you seeing in your small instance?
I ended up going with Linode’s 2 GB Shared CPU option. I think it’s possible to go with a smaller option, considering Lemmy doesn’t have heavy requirements. I’m comfortable with what I have, and it’s probably good for database cache.
