    A pickup has a bed and can carry much more rice than an SUV. I have no idea why anyone would assume they meant an SUV.

      Pickup trucks and SUVs are both classified as light trucks. Also most of them are built on the same frames

        And this is reflected colloquially? Like, people straight up call SUV’s “trucks?” People think of SUV’s first when someone says “trucks?”

          In many places, there’s no perceived difference between an suv and a pickup truck. Nobody uses a pickup truck for actual work related activities, so they’re both essentially the same thing with different shapes.

      Not everyone is as deep into the SUV/pickup game, especially when you’re from a country where they’re not popular. Like, I’d only have a vague image of each, without your explanation here…
