It wouldn’t be the weirdest anime japan would’ve made. Two anthropomorphic poles observing the neighborhood, chatting about the the ins and outs of the residents, their secrets and the world around them in a philosophical way while being constantly reminded by their curse of being sentient poles. It’ll probably end with one pole being downed and replaced while the other stays alone to ponder.

It’s simple enough to be made by one or two people. Each ep would be like 5 minutes or so. I already imagined an ep where a resident ride next to one of poles with a dirty bike and would try to pin a missing cat notice on one the poles but the pole refuses. After discussing they both agree for the pole to point him to the last direction it saw the cat heading in exchange of him not sticking the notice to it because the other street poles are full of past torn street post and it feels like it’s uglifying the view.

It would then prompt a philosophical discussion between the poles about them being privileged to be able to ask about being left clean compared to other object and the other street poles.

The message would be about personal object and street cleanliness.

Wait the pole can talk to the humans? I imagined that the poles could only talk to each other and observe how the humans in their neighborhood live their lives and talk to each other about it. But your version sounds fun. I mean it might even work as a small webcomic.

Something i learned is to never over explain anything. It is the way it is. They’d be sentient but it doesn’t need anyexplanation. People talk to them, animals too but they don’t acknowledge them more than that and wouldn’t try to hide things from them.

I would’ve liked to make a web comics but this is just my brain going hyperphantasia overdrive. I can’t draw for nuts and my writing skills are below subpar for a work that would heavily rely on it.

Toothpicks? Telephone poles are soaked in very unhealthy amount of rot-preventing chemicals. Burning it is also not a great idea, it’s not dry in the slightest. Furniture, maybe, but I bet people want some fresh unrotten wood for their tables.

So, just, like, put it with other rotten logs and forget about it.
