Does anyone have any book recommendations for books in the science fiction genre preferably with space ships involved and not just grounded to one planet or such.
If you like cherryh you could try the chanur novels. The lion people thing is a little silly but it is an engaging read and definitely very space ship. There are some really creative concepts, like methane breathing aliens that think too differently to communicate, andbsneaky reptilians incapable of affection.
There’s one hide-and-seek scene in I think the second book that really stuck with me. It’s all radar silence and lightspeed communication delays. Sort of like a submarine movie.
I’ve already read the first three books in the Chanur saga. Such a good book series. Edit: I should review the first Chanur book for the book review section.
Yay, new book review wall of text :)
Good idea! I’d love to see the details of what you did and didn’t like about it.
She wrote a lot of other space ship books, but I didn’t like them as much. The foreigner is excellent, but doesn’t have much space ship in it.
I was reading Downbelow station for a while but it’s so hard to get the physical copies of the books to continue the series and what not.
Ok, it took a moment to drag this one out of the dregs of my memory, but A Desolation Called Peace, which is the sequel to a Memory Called Empire, has good space ship stuff. The first book is the better one, but is mostly planetside.
