Hi, as many I’ve just recently joined lemmy comming from Reddit.

One community I’ve spend a lot of time over there was r/archery, which has been a great resource for the sport.

Since one can’t just found a community here, I thought I first ask if there is any demand for it or if it should stay in the sports community?

I suppose one of the best things we can do is just to start talking about it more often in the Sports community and if it gains enough traction, maybe it spins off its own community. I’ll have to start doing this more often, I think!

I used to do quite a bit of traditional target archery with a longbow. I’d love to get back into it.

Barebow archer here and also a USA Archery level 2 coach. I also spent quite a bit of time in r/archery and do miss it. I would be very interested in this.

I have done archery in the past. Have a compound bow for hunting but want to get back into archery as a whole for sure.

Sorry for the late reply. Found this thread in the search of a r/archery replacement. I do shoot Olympic style archery and miss the r/archery community, the league etc. I think there is definitely demand
