This is why employers should be in favor of universal healthcare, or at least single payer. It will save them money. I don’t get why all the other industries kowtow to the health insurance industry.

Because they like having workers rely on them for healthcare. It makes them put up with worse working conditions.

Still. Universal healthcare would also eliminate a reason for workers to leave for a competitor with better healthcare options.

Overall, the US healthcare insurance system puts American employers at a major disadvantage compared to global competitors that don’t have to worry about healthcare and other basic benefits.

Taxes. Healthcare lets a company effectively pay someone more money and get a tax break on that money. Universal Healthcare then makes both an effective pay cut and tax increases for business. The business may end up with more overall profit, the individual maybe breaks even.

Low, or non-existent, sick leave also costs employers big, as sick people are forced to work, thus spreading disease to more people. That’s been known for a long time, but business doesn’t heed that at all.

They likely won’t offer better medical insurance either, even if proven to increase productivity.

Businesses are increasingly forcing people back-to-office, despite no productivity gains by doing so.

The capitalist class not only doesn’t care about labor. They actively try to interfere with it as a form of power.

Can confirm - every year my company’s health insurance options get worse, but they cost more. They’ve committed to covering 80% of the premium, but they can only afford so much.

if we were all actual (or rather, metal) robots then companies would realise the importance of performing proper maintenance to keep us functioning as desired.

As someone who regularly builds, commissions, and audits industrial robotics systems… No they fucking wouldn’t!

Every site I’ve ever contacted on has always cut parts budgets and service contracts first. Every single one.
