So I (25M) just moved into a new apartment. Everything has been cool for the past couple of days. My neighbors who are some old white geriatric married couple. They seemed nice at first but they knocked on my door two days ago. I get up from drawing and go open the door. I greeted them quite nicely and then the old lady said “I’ve noticed your hair, in this building we are civilized, would you mind cutting it” (for context I have dreadlocks I’ve been growing for about 5 years now a little past my shoulders) I give her a befuddled look and immediately tell her no. Then the old man spoke just loud enough for me to hear “I told you he wouldn’t listen” At this point I was annoyed because I have stuff to do and told them “Listen, I don’t know what ya’ll are on but you two need to leave” The old guy said “You people are so uncivilized”

At this point I’d had enough and said “You lucky I don’t come out there and drop yo old ass, now please get the f*** out of here” and slammed the door. I heard them mumbling something and complaining and they eventually left. My friend who was over said I was doing way too much and needed to apologize. I just told him to shut it and resumed drawing.

I’ve chilled out now and want to know if I’m really wrong, AITA?
