In a city the size of New York (8 million people in 300 sq miles), public park space is a precious commodity. Taking that away from so many people, most of whom don’t give a shit about cricket, is kind of bullshit. The most telling thing is the “promise” from the Dubai-based organization that they’ll pay to rebuild the park after they are done, but they have refused to put up the standard deposit that all events held in NYC’s parks have to pay in order to do anything in the parks.
