Tankies suck, and Conservatives suck imho. They may share shitty views, which is complete nonsense, but I’m finding it a wee bit weird that a Conservative, who I’d assume is all for freedom of speech is trying to shut down speech. I agreed sometimes we shouldn’t censor. But if other instances just are shit then I think it’s best to defederate. Plus it doesn’t hurt the other instance. People are still free to go wherever they want it’s not censoring the same way reddit and centralized platforms would do it

I block all sorts of communities from c/all. I’m pruning for my own interest areas and there are plenty of communities that fall outside those. Blocking those cesspools yourself will immediately end your anxiety.

Also FYI, be careful posting on Lemmy.ml communities - the people who run it are tankies and will brook no criticism of China or Russia, whether in the context of the war in Ukraine or not.
Federation is a double-edged sword. Right now, anyone can spin up a Lemmy instance and federate with most other instances by default. Moderation is very important, especially in a federated environment. Otherwise Nazis and tankies will troll and spam and destroy the community we are trying to build. Conservatism is ok, but extremism is not.
