Hey good people! 👋 So I have some heat issues with my laptop running a few games on good old laptop . My issue is that my laptop overheats very easily. It’s a MSI PS63 Modern with a 1050ti graphics card. As of late I have recently wiped windows off my PC and have installed PopOS! Which I am very happy with! ✨ However, gaming makes the laptop so very warm I cannot even touch parts of the laptop. Currently trying to play Dragons Dogma Dark Arise, through Lutris. Which works and runs very well. But the heat is worrying.

The software I have tried, to customize the fans don’t find my fans though scans. On windows I used a built in program to make the fans go faster.

Any tips, suggestions of what to do?

Thanks in advance 🙏

When was the last time you cleaned the vents? My laptop stopped blowing air out of the vents all together because it developed a solid layer of dust.

Guess I’ll open up the bad boy to check it properly, thanks for the tip 👌

Unfortunately it’s pretty normal for gaming laptops to get very hot. Check your internal temperatures though, if your CPU is over 90C on heavy load you may have to reapply thermal paste. Also clean the vents and fans when you get a chance.

The outside heat of the laptop doesn’t matter much, just make sure the CPU doesn’t hit 98C or so.

From what I got yesterday it balanced around 70. But think I have to realise that it’s about time a I got a new laptop, something with Linux at its core.

      Thanks anyways 👍
