I finished year one and just started year two today, and I have to say there’s a lot more content here than I expected for a mobile game. I’m not even moving that quickly through the storyline because I keep getting distracted by duels and forbidden forest adventures. I won’t make an extensive list or anything, here are just a few pros/cons off the top of my head:

Pros:

  • My favorite thing so far is the art style. I love that it doesn’t look like every other mobile game, they actually tried to do something unique and interesting.
  • The storyline is actually good and has kept me entertained so far. The cut scenes are also fun to watch.
  • I really like that there is plenty to do between dancing, club events, dueling, forbidden forest, etc. I don’t usually get bored because I can just jump to something else.

Cons:

  • I do wish the storyline was longer. I’ve been putting off completing it because I don’t want it to end yet, but each chapter feels really short.
  • I’ve run into a decent amount of glitches/crashes so far. There are times when the buttons won’t show up on a screen after a card draw, so I have to just force close the game. Hopefully these will just get patched with future updates.

Any other pros and cons about the game so far?

I don’t even care for most mobile games but decided to try this one out because I’m a huge HP fan. It’s really fun, there’s a ton of stuff to do, combat is enjoyable and very customizable. It feels like they are fairly generous with the free items (though I have definitely spent more money than I indended already lol).

They will clearly be extending the storyline as time goes on. Not sure what they plan to do after year 7 though.

Performance is okay but not great, I agree. I get quite a lot of stuttering when loading in new areas, although it smoothes out after a few seconds. I haven’t noticed missing buttons glitches like you mentioned on a Pixel 6 Pro.

I do wish my social club was more active, it has 50 people but seems most of them stopped playing for the most part. I can never find anyone to duo with. I’m on Opaleye, LFG

I agree, they are definitely generous with the free items. It doesn’t feel like too much of a grind to earn things, for right now at least. I’m trying to hold off but I feel like I’m going to end up caving and buying the season pass soon lol.

I’m excited to see where they take the story. I wonder if there’s going to be an overarching story, or if they’re just going to have each year be it’s own little plot that you can wrap up.

And I’m also worried about that for my social club. Right now it’s still pretty active, but I can tell the participation of the first several days is wearing off a bit. I’m on Ridgeback.

I agree with your pros and just to add, dueling is way to fun, especialy the duos.

As for the cons, just few things:

    • I’m not a fan of the daily limit of rewards you can earn for the dueling.
    • Would be nice if the gold was easier obtainable, leveling the spellbook is just too expesnive.
    • Constant crashes in shop when I roll a new card pack.

At the end of the day it’s still a gacha game, in HP univerise so that’s a bonus.

Yeah, dueling is a super cool mechanic. I haven’t actually tried the duos yet, but I will soon because it sounds really fun.

I agree with you about the gold being a bit harder to come by than I would like. I’ve been getting coins from checking the car in the forbidden forest regularly though, so I’ve been able to upgrade a few cards more quickly that way. I’m also being more selective about which cards I upgrade. It is still slow-going though.
