A bit off topic, but I appreciate the commentary within the title. More false claims need an (untrue) note in the title.

From hearing various first hand accounts, it sounds like alot of hardcore burners embraced the rain & most others dipped out as soon as they could (many while the exit was technically closed).

I bet the energy was kinda fun and wild as long as you has the right gear and attitude

If you don’t have the right gear and attitude, you’re going to have a bad time at burning man to begin with.

There’s a certain type of burner that shows up for the weekend and leaves. Other types of burners (DPW) actually setup the city and tear it down after the event, living on the playa for months.

So yeah, it’s a spectrum, for sure.

Ebola was always a fucking stupid ass red flag and made me question any data coming out of bm.

Remember when a nurse helping with ebola in Africa came back to the US when she was infected? It was a fucking national news story for weeks. Like wall to wall coverage. I feel like she had military escorts and all that.

Ebola just doesn’t show up in the middle of the Nevada desert.

I saw this whole thing as wannabe environmental cool kids panicked when water fell from the sky.

I’m wondering how many of them deny climate change.

From my experience (been to BM a few times, not recently though), most Burners are left of center and would likely accept anthropogenic climate change as real. Likely for political reasons rather than scientific reasons, though, as many of those same Burners would also happily accept that crystals/magnets/heavily diluted water can cure disease and that the positions of nearby planets relative to distant stars from the perspective of Earth combined with how many times the moon had orbited Earth since January 1st on your birthday can vaguely predict what’s going to happen to you in the next week or so.

Alarmist title. Burners gunna burn. Media likes to make people think thousands of people were stranded, at risk, and that this is a major fiasco.

This was a bit of rain. BLM shut gate again.

The big deal will be the clean up. Watch for the moop map, and hope it’s not all red. If it’s red, BLM won’t grant a permit for next year.

MOOP is Matter Out Of Place. Each part of burning man is cleaned again and again, and the final report is the moop map. Green = good. red = bad.

There should be a website that collects all the false claims journalists publish and list it under their names/faces. Maybe if more of them were shamed for lying and poor journalism they would stop doing it.

    🎵 Beautiful disaster

🎵 Flyin’ down the street again

🎵 I tried to keep up

🎵 You wore me out and left me ate up

🎵 Now I wish you all the luck

🎵 You’re a butterfly in the wind without a care

🎵 A pretty train crash to me and I can’t care

    🎵I do, I don’t, whatever

Don’t feel bad. They had a great time and have lots of stories to tell.

Going to burning man is never easy. You’re survival camping in the desert. Burners are ready for a lot of things.

Glad to see this sub being as shitty and utterly irrelevant to tech the same as the OG. What a garbage and worthless article.

But hey, it’s just reddit that has a bot problem 🤷‍♂️

It is a great example of liberal hypocrisy. They set up a city in the middle of a desert. Drive SUVs and trucks out to it. Create a bunch of trash, and burn some shit.

Just like how every rich liberal douche says they want homeless shelters/outreach and affordable housing, but it cant be anywhere near their property.
