I’ve been watching season 1. The world is intriguing. Some of the episodes feel slow or like filler. But a new mystery dystopia show is refreshing.

I’ve really been digging the show. It kind of reminds me of the book version of wayward pines (the show version never happened, much like the avatar the last airbender movie).

The show is also based on a book I believe.

Totally agree, the avatar the last air bender film should be erased from history.

The books are one of my favourite scifi books of all time. They are incredible. The TV series does well but it misses a lot of the class politics and the fragility inherent to the silo. In the book, everybody has a reason to act the way they do. There are no “baddies”.

Wayward pines (the show) could have been great but like many other shows they had the characters make the dumbest decisions. Like why bother lying to everyone and make it look like some quaint town? That’s a recipe for disaster.

I never read the book(s?) But I can’t imagine using all those resources to keep humans around and then just forget to include a lab to make new drugs/antibiotics.

Good. The books have enough material for another season for sure.

I’ve read the books, my wife hasn’t. Listening to her speculate about things and then seeing her reaction is great.

The books are different from the series, though, if you are thinking about reading them.

Okay good. I thought the books were different, but I read Wool a decade ago and thought I just had a bad memory.

I read Shift, but didn’t like it quite as much as Wool. Would you recommend reading Dust?

I also read them some time ago. Probably a decade ago like you. I liked the while saga but if you asked which I recommend… I’m at a loss.

I read the books and I loved them. Every book was worth it for me and I enjoyed the end as well.

I really like how this adaptation is very different from the books. Changes or low fidelity to the source usually rubs people the wrong way but I haven’t seen anyone object to it including me.

It’s very fun wondering what’s going to happen while probably knowing the broad strokes.

Getting fed up with dystopia, to the point I avoid interesting new sci-fi like Silo.

The news is dystopic enough, hoping to see other genre of sci-fi like The Orville, Counterpart, …

Having read the first book, there’s some things the show did better, some things the book did better. I personally am hooked and can’t wait for Thursday’s to watch a new episode. Glad to hear it got renewed.

I haven’t started season 1 yet but I’ve been slowly getting through a bunch of Apple TV+'s shows. They’re really up there in quality. I’m enjoying taking my sweet time going through them. Everything I’ve seen from Silo looks like up my alley so I’m looking forward to starting that soon after I finish For All Mankind and watch season 3 of Ted Lasso. Happy to hear of another sci-fi series getting renewed.
