Of course he did. It’s all about keeping his own legal troubles out of the news cycle. Notice how hardly anything in the news is discussing all his incitements and trials for the last couple days? It’s working.

There’s a bit of a lull in the progression of all of Trump and Company’s indictments, so the Biden talk is filling the vacuum.

The instant there’s anything new and substantial on the indictments stories, that’s going to take precedence again. The clock is always ticking on that. With House Republicans busy infighting about Biden, odds are good they’re not going to be able to shift public attention away from the fucking attempted coup.

I’m also wondering when we should expect more news on Trump. I know the trial dates aren’t until March or something right? Although he may have more indictments before then.

People can claim he’s an idiot all they want, but it’s been clear since the beginning that he’s an absolute grandmaster at playing the media like fiddles. And they keep trying to kick Lucy’s football over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over…

No the media is just incentivized to swing the camera to the loudest gibbon in the room. Palin is a moron but every time she opens her mouth and says dumb shit you see her all over the headlines for the next few days

Yep, and he’s understood that very clearly since he was a young man, along with how to build and maintain a brand. Few other political figures understand how that works nowadays, including the entirety of the Democratic Party and the current President. Every marketing student alive understands that what you’re trying to get with advertising is attention. You can sell a message better with it than without it, and people pay handsomely for it. Sustaining attention is nigh impossible unless you know how to push the buttons of the outrage media ecosystem. The average US voter is disengaged and low-information and relies only on trusted sources of information, and so any press is good press as long as you can make your case through curated media outlets (i.e. Fox News and Twitter) while everyone else is incessantly talking about you.
