'Collective action can have a direct effect on society’, study on climate strikes shows.
By the way, next big strike is scheduled for 15th Sept, tomorrow.
I was morbidly curious so I searched her in YouTube and went to the comments. Why is YouTube such a cesspool? I didn’t even have to scroll, it was right at the top.
It always gets me how angry people get at her and the personal attacks they make. She is literally out there trying to help keep our planet habitable in the same way it has been for hundreds of years. Why are they angry?

— young

Take your pick
They’re almost all people who have amounted to nothing in their own personal lives. They see someone much younger than them having a much more profound and positive impact on the world and it makes them upset.
That or they have a vested interest in oil companies, shipping companies, coal, etc.
I havn’t amounted to anything either and I’m envious of her but I don’t attack her. At worst I’d wish she’d be more radical but I’m still glad someone’s doing something. There has to be more going on
I don’t believe you that you haven’t amounted to anything. You’re obviously an intelligent person and even that alone takes time and effort.
They always come up with some critique that kinda makes sense, but it’s also so unreasonable that it will make you realize that you just wasted time arguing with someone who already has their mind made up. For example, they will say “veteran environmentalists are more knowledgeable about what needs to be done”, it’s like okay, I don’t disagree there, how does that invalidate her efforts? At the end of the day, she is trying to make the world a better place, which is not something 90% of the population can genuinely say. It just makes me unreasonably mad that there are so many people that will just hate on anyone trying to do some good.
YouTube comments are literal cancer. It has been known for a long time.
The challenge with protests often lies in the influence of a wealthy minority opposing change and using their resources to sway public opinion against climate action.
Fortunately, it’s reassuring to see that these influential actors don’t always come out on top.
a wealthy minority opposing change and using their resources to sway public opinion against climate action.
that’s why the only way forward is to target those individuals directly.
This is so good to hear! She’s awesome
Friday, 15th September 2023 (tomorrow) is another big international FFF strike. See if you can join to make a difference!

I hope that’s true… But seems like the stat is from voluntary self reporting surveys. Stats 101 says be weary of the info
How much is this in Chinese plants?
