It’s Saturday, the best day of the week for some of us. What’s happening, dudes?

We’ve planned a barbeque, so obviously it’s forecast to thunderstorm all lunchtime. Have a good one, all!

Off up north for my first game of DnD in over a year, and my first in person game for about 4 years or so. Looking forward to it.

And then dodging rail replacement bus services tomorrow.

Oh god. You know your life’s gone horribly wrong when you’re awake for the UKCasual daily chat thread going live 😭

Other half has just gone out on his weekly hike over the moors, he’ll do at least 8 miles depending how hot it gets out there so I have some nice quiet alone time with the cuppa he made me before leaving. I barely get any time for video games atm so am thinking I might just veg out for a few hours with one of the many games on my “wish I had time for this” list.

Most likely this will morph into an afternoon of continuing to veg on the couch but actually doing some work on my own game instead of playing with others. Need to get on with some sewing and crochet this weekend too as we’re going on a cruise in just under 4 weeks and I still have half a planned capsule wardrobe to make.

Now if my hands would just wake up and join the rest of me…

Oh how I miss quiet gaming time!

This morning I was woken up by the gentle sounds of child #1 doing a jigsaw puzzle outside our bedroom door at 545. He’d nearly finished, so presumably he’d been there for five minutes or so before I noticed.

I’m heading to the library to get some books, hopefully I can have a nice read while it’s raining outside. Then back to the cleaning which never seems to end!

ParkRun for me today then a potter in the garden then torment myself by watching the test match! Might even watch the qualifying for the F1 but we know how that’s going to finish.

Took my young son to the working vehicles day at Brooklands Museum. It rained on and off but nothing bad really with our rain coats. It was so quiet too because of the rain so we had a great time!

It blows my mind how many people were there without coats or umbrellas though. Why do so many people look out the window in the morning and decide on the weather. It’s Britain so it can change in an instant so just check the weather!

The kids had a sleepover at grandparents last night which was amazing. We’ve been dealing with an ill cat who is still on nocturnal going out at night hours but she’s had to be kept in, so she’s been waking us up every night. She’s all better now so she can go out again. And my youngest now has her own room which despite being delighted with, still won’t stay in her own bed and gets in ours. So last night I went to bed at about 9:30 and had a completely uninterrupted sleep until 7:30. Bliss. I am now however full of a cold. Swings and roundabouts.

I was out for a few drinks with work last night, and I’ve woken with a cracking hangover this morning. I was the oldest there by far and I’m still revelling in the fact that they all thought I was about 10 years younger than I am. They were genuinely gobsmacked when I told them I’m old enough to be their mum (mums?).

I’ve got a list of things to do today, and have my best mates coming round later for food… We shall see how much I achieve. I remember drunkenly buying a half dead lobelia plant for £1.50 from Tesco on my way home, and sticking it out on the windowsill, so I need to see if that’s still alive as well. I’m hoping it might feed a few bees before it dies at least.

I’m up by 6.30, like clockwork. Spending most of the day looking after my baby/doing some housework then meeting up with old school friends this afternoon.

Currently got my tankard of tea brewing…

The radio is telling me there are lots of things on in the Bristol area today, including Southmead Festival, Chipping Sodbury Festival, Bath Carnival, and Bristol Pride.

Unfortunately the weather is looking not so good, and if i starts raining in the next hour or so then I might just potter around the house.

We are going out to a posh restaurant for dinner this evening.

There are plenty of things that still need doing around the house and garden, but stuff it. I am going for a hike on a footpath that have not so far done since moving here.

The forecasts are saying that the rain should hold off until this evening at least and I am feeling virtuous 'cos I mowed the lawn after work yesterday and sorted out the drivers for the server so that the wifi is working properly and there aren’t powerline blocks and cables trailing around any more.

Got a big ol family bbq planned at lunch… Right when a fucking thunderstorm is gonna hit. We’re British though, so umbrellas will be out and food shall get bbq’d!

Well, it’s Saturday so that means the kids are allowed nutoka (aldi nutella) on toast. The eldest is making it for them both and I’m half-heartedly trying to dissuade her from having it an inch thick.

Going to drop the kids at their cousins and then go shopping for a new wedding ring - mine got stuck on a few weeks ago so I had to break it to get it off. Lesson learned: take it off once in a while and dont leave it on for years at a time.

Oh great thanks for that new nightmare! Only been married 3 months but I’ve already started to notice mine is leaving a line where I wear it, I’m starting to try and leave it off as often as possible so as to reduce the chance of giving away clues to private detectives if I’m ever on the run.

Hope you find a nice new ring that you love, and maybe pick up a small decorative dish or something for your bedside table and start putting it in there at night!

I had to get my wedding ring resized to a smaller fit, as I kept flinging it across the room whenever I was wildly gesticulating. It’s now about the right size, although my finger has a wild range of circumference depending on the weather. Today it’s about right, but in winter I can still accidentally turn my ring into a projectile.

TIL: gesticulating is spelt with a g, not a j.

Haha, relatable, I do a lot of hand moisturising so there have been a couple of near misses here also. Wild gesticulation gang!

Did you need to take it off for something specific? I’ve taken mine off probably twice in five years. My knuckles are quite large compared to my fingers so it’s hard to take off but the ring isn’t tight when on.

I broke it off because my finger was swollen, I could feel my pulse in my finger and I was getting a bit worried. I’m the same with big knuckles so I didn’t realize I had a problem
