    I feel like this bot shouldn’t post this around midnight North American time. Maybe around noon here then it’d be early evening for Europe.

    I got a decent night’s sleep, worked out, showered, and got to enjoy a cup of coffee while scrolling some Lemmy. Not a bad start.

    Now it’s time to wake up the kids, get the older one to daycare, and do some work.

    Reviewing the work of a person I’ll probably be firing in a few months. It’s never pleasant, and I hate that the responsibility falls on me, even though I am not the one making the decisions.

        When your job is writing but you can’t write very well… hard to see what can improve. Sadly my employer has a bad selection process.

          Bad selection process usually make everyone suffer.

          My previous boss never fire people in probation, and it is so difficult to get rid of bad employees.

    Well, it is currently just after 7pm. My FIL passed this am. We were expecting it sooner than later. We took him in our house after his last hospitalization 3+ weeks ago. He made the decision it was time and to go on hospice. Been fighting a terminal illness for years.

    I am thankful we made that decision instead of sending him to a facility. We made him as comfortable as possible and he had support and visits from loved one during this transition.

    The last few weeks have been rough on my husband and I, but we did the best we could and I am happy we were able to provide him with the love and care he needed in his past weeks. We are both quite exhausted and have a few more things to tie up.

    I am thankful we were able to provide him with the comfort, love, and care he needed. He is at peace and our hearts are filled with peace and love.

    Had a few drinks this evening and am trailing off. Happy for the Lemmy/Fediverse community to share with, even though we are all anonymous strangers. Thanks for the ongoing support of the lemmy devs, instance hosts, communities, and users for providing a wonderful place to share and connect with others.

      Hey, condolences to you and yours. It’s a very weird time after someone has passed after a prolonged illness, and even when they’re elderly and had a good run. The grief happens as it’s happening, but just afterwards is sheer exhaustion. You see your family at their best and worst, and you use up all your emotional resources. Make sure you take care of yourself in the mix x
