Its when westoids act like they are inventing a new thing, or improving upon something, but its really just more enshitification, repackaging fragments of existing tech. Or worse; a more polluting, wasteful or dangerous “invention” that is popular purely for the ideology and decorum. Particularly of US west coast tech-company devotees. Absolutely convincing themselves that they’ll eventually build a eco zero-carbon version of todays infrastructure but will do so by mining more rare minerals and consuming more oil to get to that speculative destination.
