  • 1 only has Olimar so no switching there.

2 adds Louie but switching isn’t nearly as important as in 3 and can mostly be ignored. There are some bosses that were designed with splitting up and switching in mind but they’re not impossible without switching.

If you enjoyed the demo of 4 then you should give 1 and 2 a try, especially 2.

I completed 2 and 3 but never had the chance to play 1 so I was pretty happy that Nintendo released 1+2 for Switch.

It took me 15 days and 90 deaths and overall I enjoyed the game. Some design decisions made me scratch my head though, like Pikmin randomly tripping or Sheargrubs becoming invincible while eating a Pikmin.

Pikmin 1 also felt more difficult than the sequels. Fiery Blowhogs don’t shoot for as long as they do in later entries meaning they shake your Pikmin off much faster. Snagrets and Beady Long Legs are a lot more difficult to kill without losing any Pikmin.

The game also felt pretty short, which increases its replayability I guess.
