More super debt and an extra 99 year lease on top of the previous? Lol!
Good idea, right?!/s
That (and corruption) was what got Sri Lanka in even bigger problems.
and our entire civilization is structured around the thing causing its own destruction.
Very well summarised.
Note: The title was just corrected. It’s 50% of GDP not growth.
According to this report, 50% fall of WORLD GDP because climatic catastrophes means, no food, water, medicine, infrastructure, help, nothing. Society breaks dow , totally.
And you get famine, thirst, diseases, wars, and many millions or billions deaths.
Important note: it’s just a report, an Important one though,if correct. These are (educated) predictions, but nonetheless, just that.
No matter how her narrative is now: (etc) and why you shouldn’t be fooled.
Exactly .
I believe I checked it out, before they had the bridge functionality. Seems much better now tbh.
Imo adressing and identifying the problems and issuing adequate help when needed , at young age, is always the best option. Without, the shit will hunt you down for years and decades, and grow worse.
Seems that investigation is still ongoing and steady…But due to political changes within the EC and outside the EU, the implementiation steps still need to cristalise:
"EU lawmakers have called for regulators to hold firm. Stephanie Yon-Courtin, an MEP who was involved in drafting the tech rules, said EU probes could not be sacrificed to avoid diplomatic fallout. In a letter to Ursula von der Leyen, the commission president, Yon-Courtin said the DMA “cannot be taken hostage”. She added: “Please reassure me that your cabinet and yourself are fully supporting the effective implementation of the DMA, without further delay.”
I tried Mullvad Vpn and I liked it. Plug and play, 5 € p month, 5? machines, speed ok ( 220 Mbit/s ish on ookla), no other BS. Also you can choose anonymous payments, which is a big plus.
Proton for email wasn’t intuitive to me at all , some years back. Don’t know about their VPN.
Also, Sweden is in the EU and CH (=Switzerland) has EU association, so kind of copy pasta concerning privacy rules and citizen rights. The former famous old-skool CH privacy is long gone, if that’s what you were thinking.
Most (good) VPN have quantum encryption, which Iike many said, is a bit of sales pitch bla bla imo.

DW I use at times for sure. Need to check out RFI, tnx. What about "El Pais ", France.24?
Also AP & Reuters, but I try to avoid US news, and sometimes they miss out on regional flavours.
Please stop sharing euronews now that Orban has a stake in it.
Since the firing of the Euronews CEO in 2024 there were fears of meddling by Orban, though recent research into Euronews hasn’t found any evidence .
I’m still split on the matter, it’s hard to replace Euronews ( euroactive and euro observer won’t do imo). Using Politico with a looming Axel Springer shadow or euronews with an Orbán shadow. It’s getting hard to find " good and objective news"

Meuwissen, a Polish-Belgian journalist and co author of this pamphlet, also served as a communications director for the Ordo Iuris Institute and has published articles for many years with the Visegrád Post, a fringe far-right site later revealed to be part of the Voice of Europe network — a Russian intelligence operation aimed at covertly funding and supporting the far-right across Europe.
Russian puppets.
So not only is USA not a member of the ICC, they want to sanction now professionals working in the ICC for doing their work.
“The U.S. is one of only a handful of states, including Israel, not party to the Rome Statute; the U.S. has long been hostile to the ICC, potentially in part due to some U.S. officials’ implication in alleged war crimes, as some commentators have pointed out.”
The article and summary very specifically details the role of RE-export. Sanctioned ( Western machine &hightech) parts get to Russia by export via Taiwan, China. It’s not like a country like Lithuania is doing this on purpose.

Not quite. GDPR applies equally to everyone. There are some finer points, but that didn’t matter in this case.
True that, the "G " in GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) means everyone must abide.
So While Lemmy doesn’t fall in DSA ( Digital Servcie Act) it still needs to comply with GDPR. For more info Similarities and Differences between the GDPR and Other European Laws
You understand that lemmy is also in violation, yes?
Do you mean below mentioned issue?
Lemmy@World instance servers are in the EU. I think in The Netherlands, so they must comply. On the otherhand it’s federated, so messages are copied. Lemmy isn’t as big a platform as Meta, so the rules are less strict, iirc.
Tnx , I found it helpful:
tl;dr : The EU must safeguard under all circumstances the privacy of EU citizens and should do so actively.
" However, as regards that person’s registration for the ‘GoGreen’ event, the General Court finds that, by means of the ‘Sign in with Facebook’ hyperlink displayed on the EU Login webpage, the Commission created the conditions for the transmission of his IP address to Facebook. That IP address constitutes personal data which, by means of that hyperlink, were transmitted to Meta Platforms, an undertaking established in the United States. That transfer must be imputed to the Commission.
At the time of that transfer, on 30 March 2022, there was no Commission decision finding that the United States ensured an adequate level of protection for the personal data of EU citizens. Furthermore, the Commission has neither demonstrated nor claimed that there was an appropriate safeguard, in particular a standard data protection clause or contractual clause. 5 The displaying of the ‘Sign in with Facebook’ hyperlink on the EU Login website was entirely governed by the general terms and conditions of the Facebook platform. The Commission did not, therefore, comply with the conditions set by EU law for the transfer by an EU institution, body, office or agency of personal data to a third country.
The compensation of Poland according to wiki concluded per 1953:

Furthermore Poland received 15% of the German merchant fleet acquired by the Soviet Union. Deliveries were overseen by a joint Polish-Soviet commission and lasted until 1953”.
