F-Droid is an alternative android app-store that is Open-Source and prides itself on providing other, Free and Open-Source Software.
Anyone can host an F-Droid repository and provide their own apps there, if they don’t like the official https://F-Droid.org one.
NewPipe is one of the best recommendations.
There is also LibreTube, and YouTube ReVanced
LibreTube depends on a Piped instance, and YouTube ReVanced will need a specific youtube-version and MicroG for Vanced.

In Germany at least, you can easily be brought out of your family if it can be proven that it genuinely harms your mental health
it is much more when you look at the entire Threadiverse, e.g all Lemmy and Kbin instances combined, it is even more, at 134.000+ active users (created accounts are inflated due to people spamming bot accounts)

I sadly can’t speak from experience, but I still want to try my best at helping, so I’d like to ask: how comfortable are you with living somewhere else? In many countries there are ways to pretty much leave your family behind given they actually affect your mental health.

For me it’s a tie between Void Linux and Fedora.
Fedora provides a really decent experience out of the box for all their releases, with great stability and community support
Void Linux is a more niche distro which is quite barebones by default, but can be built into a highly customized system whilst still being stable. Their docs/handbook is also really easy to understand.
GifBox - a project made by one of the Revolt developers - is a viable option, albeit there isn’t much content yet.

Statistically speaking most people here are running on an unrooted Android device.
Thus, giving a slightly more advanced answer going over the Root Install method is mostly useless.
Either way, I’ve been doing this for 8 years, I know what I am talking about.
