My dude i voted for Justin Trudeau I’m not a right winger. I just also don’t like the way the CCP oppresses their citizens, actively, like right now as we type these messages to each other from the comfort of our homes.
I wouldn’t call communism inherently bad but his manifesto specifically is about excusing “communist” atrocities.
Scotty seems like the kind of dude who just makes shit up as he goes and I’m pretty sure he would smoke a Toyota off a hookers asscrack. That being said he’s helped me a few times save a few bucks so he’s alright.
I’m not criticizing you for using lemmy.ml it was the default on jerboa which was the first contender for Lemmy which ended up with a lot of people hopping straight into it. The problem is that the admins enforce rules that aren’t explicitly stated on the domain and ban users who haven’t done anything rule breaking. This includes criticizing the CCP.
The only good thing about the Lemmy developers is that they made certain actions across instances visible to everyone.
They literally ban people for posting content they disagree with regarding the CCP. If you want to turn a blind eye sobeit but not everyone cares to shill propagandists that have actual manifestos about communism on their GitHub.
And what exactly can we do with this?
Let’s just leave lemmy.ml because that place is a haven for tankies.
Then I guess that just needs to change. I have no interest personally in associating with CCP advocates and apologists.
I think they’d know after this amount of time my dude.
That’s pretty impressive. I hope it continues to grow. It would be nice if there was some way to mirror the content that gets posted on Reddit specifically the highly popular posts in news subreddits but otherwise I like it a lot.
I don’t get it anyone care to explain
Please shower though.
I think most of these things that people (users) want will come from app developers figuring out solutions. A list of each servers fed status and settings to block posts from de federated instances based on your current login, or some kind of multiple account situation where when your current login is de federated on an instance you are viewing it sends the comment on another account that is still federated with the instance you are commenting on.
The app doesn’t necessarily need to use any specific instance at any given time and could very possibly just pull all of Lemmy at once, check what’s ‘hot’ and tell the user if they don’t have any accounts with access to that instances federation when trying to comment.
I don’t see it. Was it checked before ?
Because the main developers of Lemmy are concerningly biased. Luckily the project is open source but unfortunately it does appear that the lead developers are into defending the crimes of the CCP mainly through moderation on their own platform (which of course is their right). They strongly dislike discussion of CCP crimes on their platform and ban users.
I unfortunately don’t have the links but there are 3 threads you can pull on to kind of paint a picture of what the lead devs opinions are.
His moderation tendencies on lemmy.ml.
His GitHub compendium on communism and Marxism and how they didn’t necessarily fail.
A breakdown of everything on Mastodon by what appears to be a slighted user. This is the personal vendetta they are talking about in the most recent blog posting.
Ironically enough I kind of dismissed the twitter drama as drama until I read the most recent article the dev team posted and their denial caught my eye. Especially how they said it wasn’t worth addressing. Didn’t sit right with me and I saw some others feeling the same way posting about it.
People are also pointing out that prior to the influx of users from Reddit the Lemmy ecosystem was ‘red’ in a sense but it’s largely been suppressed by the sudden popularity.
Do I think any of this matters? Honestly, yes I do.
Only because, of course, the lead developers opinions matter and will influence the features the project will incorporate as time goes on. A recent example that comes to mind is the PolyMC controversy where the lead dev went rogue and denounced LGBT or something. The team all quit and ported it over to Prism Launcher.
Instances like that can happen and come up. You never know what might happen. Anyways it’s not affecting anything right this moment so it might be a sit and watch scenario.
Grab some popcorn I guess.
Oh and for anyone curious I think socialism is awesome and I live in Canada so I’m not some kind of capitalist romanticizer. I think a mix works best but ultimately capitalism will collapse under its own weight. Especially if left unregulated.
I don’t know if you are for or against this but holy fuck get some help. That was unintelligible.
