I would go there for a month or two before going through getting a visa like that to see if you even like it there, I would say that’s the catch. I like it there a lot, but I wouldn’t particularly want to live there.
Having an extra checked bag can get really expensive especially over time, but if you’re staying in places for a while like that then it will be a lot cheaper I think. I think that’s a great idea since it’s such a big part of your life.
I hope you have a great day too!
It’s easy to start comparing yourself to other people that travel and get a lot of FOMO from it, but the thing is that people only post the cool stuff. They’re not generally posting showing off how they worked 9-5 today before going to the beach or cathedral or whatever. Also, when you start doing this people are going to be looking up at the things you’re doing in the same way and get FOMO from the things you’re doing.
There are some nomads that make really good money and don’t work more than a few hours a day, but the majority of nomads are working full time like any other job. There’s the lower budget version which is backpacking, but those people don’t typically have solid jobs or money so it’s more of just an adventure.
Part of the deal is you still have to get your job done, and you have to figure out how to balance that with fun and if it’s worth it to you. Personally, I’d rather spend my off days in Argentina or Paris than somewhere like Idaho even if I work close to full time.
FedEx or DHL express, have it shipped to one of their offices and pick it up there. FedEx I believe holds packages for a week after delivery and you can ship across the world in under a week. That’s what I usually do.
I feel like giving up quality of life would mean that I do not want to be in that place. With your pets it might be more difficult, but I would take advantage of the opportunity you have and travel to find where your quality of life will be what you want. It’s a really big world and there’s something for everyone, so in your situation I think it would not make sense to force yourself to stay somewhere you don’t want to be.
Also, I think it’s good to be aware that your situation is more fortunate than others but it sounds like maybe you let it affect you negatively. It’s a fact that you’re better off than most people, but you worrying about it is going to do nothing but make you feel bad and no one in these countries cares if you just feel bad about it so it doesn’t help them. Unless you’re just doing absolutely evil shit around the world, then you being better off than other people won’t affect them negatively and you might as well enjoy the opportunities that you have.
It can take a while to find a used car that is worth buying, I would start doing more research and going to look at cars now. It’s not really something you can just buy over a weekend because you’re going to have to test drive and compare a lot of really shitty cars to find a decent one. Look into whatever marketplace people sell used cars on to get an idea of price.
Significantly cheaper would be Balkans, Greece, or Turkey imo. Stuff in Portugal is a lot cheaper too, but rent is not nowadays.
