If you make up a bizarre scenario then project it on to someone else, it’s pretty easy to criticize that scenario. (it’s a basic straw man fallacy)
All relationships have power imbalances. One party is always taller, stronger, better-looking, richer, smarter, better-connected, more savvy, more charismatic, etc.
This new dogma that says “power imbalance = abuse” is ridiculous AF. It’s amazing people can repeat it with a straight face.

Power imbalance arguments are nonsense because
existence of power =/= abuse of power
and even if it did (which it obviously doesn’t) we still have no way to measure power. As in the example above. Maybe he was exploiting her, or maybe the other way round. Or maybe no one was exploiting anyone and they were just in love.
We can read tabloids and be judgemental weasels 'till the cows come home and it doesn’t really matter, but if people are claiming that “power dynamics” prove that sex is rape, well now we’re talking about a serious felony. It would be atrocious to put someone in prison based on the absurd bullshit people yap about power imbalances.
How is it possible that people pretend to care about pedophilia but can’t even be bothered to spend 2 minutes learning what the word means???

It’s seems natural that a few of those new users will not agree with the Puritan hysteria causing everyone to virtue signal about how much they hate “pedos”. Anna Nicole Smith was not 16, and tho’ she certainly made many mistakes in her life, I don’t think we have any evidence that marrying that rich guy was one of them. I’ve not studied it carefully, but to a casual observer it seems like they were happy together.
She was also rather famous and successful on her own. She was not powerless in that relationship. In any event it’s not really any of our business.
If people want to do transactional things that is their business.

I have never encouraged pedophilia (which is incidentally a disease some unfortunates are born with. the number of pedophiles does not increase or decrease depending on “encouragement” from randos on the internet), I have never normalized or justified pedophilia (pedophilia is not an action, by the way, it is an attraction. there is nothing anyone can do to become a pedophile or stop being a pedophile. people who are born with it have to deal with it.) The basic facts regarding pedophiles, teenagers, and sex ought to be openly discussed. The fact that you are suppressing that discussion makes everything worse. Taboos silence voices that would provide valuable information that would help to find effective solutions to child abuse.

“It’s something everyone goes through” sounds a lot like the old “I got treated like dirt, so you should too” which is the foundation for hazing of all kinds. It’s also the way mothers in certain parts of Africa justify holding down their daughters during female genital mutilation.
and in fact it is not something that everyone goes thru. Some cultures don’t have the forced artificially extended childhood we call “adolescence”. It’s something we invented. Something we choose to do. We can stop this cruelty any time.

I don’t mind conflicts with the prime timeline. Strange New Worlds is an awesome work. A few eps annoy me, but so many of the first 20 have hit actual brilliance, that it can compete for best Star Trek ever.
