We know it is possible to take classes outside of your course from the first pre-pub of this book. Sylvester says one possible future for Wilfried is to take some knight classes and become the knight commander.
Lieseleta pov is top notch. Nice to learn more about her circumstances.
If they are in a rush, I wonder if they would have time to do that. Making paper takes longer than a few days and they would have to try multiple different ways to make it, then wait for days for the results and see which changes made the best changes, improve based on that, and repeat this process multiple times. Going with Clarissa’s idea and hunting for feybeast skin might be quicker.
Though I do agree that improving the process for making the initial paper is something Rozemyne should do in the future.
The first three pre-pub parts were all such bangers that this one now seems comparatively a little calmer in comparison, but it is a good part nonetheless.
It is nice seeing Rozemyne finally doing actual magic research herself. Before she just brewed what Raimund designed or retold what she was taught at the temple, so it is nice seeing her getting into researching brewing methods. She does not seem to like it though.
The apprentices are going to take part in rituals moving forward, which is nice. It would be nice to get names for them. Roz is sus that Ralph is sus on her. Clarissa is “normal”.
It is nice that Rozemyne’s siblings are so appreciative of her. Charlotte is running for Aub! But it might be only temporary before Melchior or their youngest sibling would take helm (?).
Rozemyne’s siblings having headaches over her socialising is great and them bonding over being overshadowed by her is a nice moment, even if she feels left out.
Roz leaving Ehrenfest seems to be out of the bag. Leisegang elders are up to no good.
Dirk is way too adorable. His relationship with Delia is also very beautiful. It is also nice to see how much everyone wants to maintain what Rozemyne has built.
Hartmut finally released his power levels. Like many have speculated, he has known for a long time.
P4V5 had this bit:
“Still, Hartmut… I’m impressed you noticed that,” I said.
“Lord Ferdinand and Lord Justus have taught me much about you, Lady Rozemyne. I am glad their teachings have already proven useful.”
Um, wait… Excuse me? What exactly are they teaching you?
Hartmut went on to describe everything he had learned. “This will be necessary to contain your chaos within the Royal Academy, Lady Rozemyne,” he eventually concluded. I had no choice but to reflect on my own deeds and weep.
Did you have to tell him EVERYTHING, and in that much detail?! Stupid, stupid Ferdinand! Stupid, stupid Justus!
There is a fan translated chapter which I think would now be rather safe to read now. It will most likely be printed in Short Story Collection 3 but that has not released even in Japan yet, so we would have to wait for a long time to get it officially in English.
It is from Hartmut pov. I would not click “Next/Prev chapter” or “List” if you want to avoid spoilers since there are chapters up to P5V11 on that site. (Ok, P5V5 is safe too, but I would not go further than that.)
Tulli
:(
I think she was the witness but avoided her eyes, and Roz was commenting that she should do her “job” of supervising it properly.
All of these three chapters were great, but the first two have to live in the shadow of the third one.
Mother and Daughter is one of the best chapters in the whole series. I still cry every time I read it and I think I’ve read it at least 10 times.
This insert reminds me that
Clarissa looks way too normal. She does not look like the wacko she is, at all. She should look weirder!
The execution magic is somehow tied to a specific aub, not merely knowledge learned in the AC lessons.
Isn’t it also possible that the access to the medals is restricted to the Aub? You can only enter the room where the medals are being held with permission from the Aub who holds the foundation? It is one of the two (access to medals or the spell working) but I don’t think we know which one.
What do you mean you did better.
Rozemyne remembered to tell that she had no power to make decisions. She “only” made Ehrenfest’s desires known, it was up to Sylvester to negotiate on them, so I would give Sylvester credit here too. Most of their demands that got accepted were also Sylvester and Florencia’s ideas.
Bertram
Bertram is Laurenz’s brother. Barthold is Wilfried’s namesworn.
But he’s like, what, 14 or 15 now.
Just turned 13.
Wilfried hate train ended up being all for nothing in the end. His “evil plots” included “Make Rozemyne the Aub instead of me” and “I do not want to marry her”.
Good to see the two getting along again. :)
