I think you’re talking about “at-will” employment, which allows the employer or employee to terminate employment for no reason at any time. Only Montana doesn’t have that (unfortunately for the rest of us), and employers must show good cause for termination after a set probationary period. “Right-to-work” means that you can’t be required to join a union or pay fair share fees as a requirement of employment. 26 states have this on the books.

I live in a state with both laws, and it sucks as much as you’d imagine… (mainly because it’s fairly indicative of other issues throughout the state).

It’s a bit of a confusing history. The AT Protocol for decentralization was a side project of Twitter that later spun off, grew, and became Bluesky.

Academic librarians are already here with prompt engineering to obtain (more) accurate responses, particularly with finding keywords to use, etc. Maybe surprising to some, but faculty are our biggest requesters for how to do it “for research.” We also give a bunch of caveats, because we don’t want to be tracking down hundreds of fake references from AI either.

Before starting my own personal one, I used ones run by @Stux, mstdn.social and masto.ai. He has another one that’s based around coffee lovers, too: mastodon.coffee. They’re pretty laid back servers!

We switched to Duo, too. Making that plan unlimited was the las barrier to my spouse jumping aboard the Kagi train. We’re in for the yearly Duo sub as of this evening!

When we lived in Duluth, we couldn’t find a place that didn’t require us to entirely declaw our cat, so we found a rental out of town. I’m so glad to see that requirement become illegal. It’s cruel and unnecessary mutilation.

No, my local public library removed fines a few years ago and added auto-renewal in its place. You get three renewals and then another three-week grace period before they even send you a polite letter that says they might declare it lost if you don’t return it.

This is all I’m waiting for to make the switch…
