Twitch’s behaviour is mildly disturbing for this case, in that they were monitoring Beahm’s private DMs, and then tried to hide it with a settlement when wrongdoing was found (to hide that they were monitoring prominent users of the whisper system?)

Zero receipts, entire essay with little to no point being made, starts off talking about how honest, responsible and how much he totally hates pedophiles. While posting an admission to sexting a minor, years after telling the world he’d sue Twitch for a ban that he let people speculate for years so he could avoid responsibility.

Unless he shows the world what exactly he texted the minor soon, this statement is one hell of a self inflicted wound for his case.

Remember when the Rift and early OG Quest weren’t chained to shitty software forced by Facebook? Oculus was once the gold standard in value for dollar VR experience. Arguably still is - if you intend to use it for half a year after purchase and never again.

Don’t buy Meta VR sets:

parts tend to break in time with no easy/existing replacement (ex. Rift S adjustment wheel, specialized unbuyable cable), shitty customer service, they phase out support for perfectly working sets (Quest 1), and their required software enshittifies every year (third party alternatives like OcuTrayTool worked for me before but idk now).

The Pico 4 has absurdly durable hardware for a cheaper price too (check out the 1 year after reviews/drop tests compared to Quest 2/3 sets), I’d be so sad if Pico exits the cheap VR market after 4S.

If there’s one company that doesn’t do this, with leadership criticizing layoff culture, it’s FromSoft. You can give some benefit of the doubt for this company as they have been here forever.

Admittedly their team is quite small and they do go through multiple crunch times + super stressful Japanese work culture though. The tradeoff being their employees find work ‘meaningful’ as their games are genre leaders.

I get that the stunts will draw attention to the environmental issues the activists are protesting for, but surely not pissing off the public would be beneficial in spreading a message to them?

The uninvolved public would just remember the attempted defacings, and not care about the damage being temporary or minimal.
