I haven’t had any issue finding those amenities in hotels in Europe (at least in Berlin, Munich, Madrid, and Málaga, which is not an exhaustive study by any means). I’ve seen a few that look to be entire small apartment buildings converted into hotels, which isn’t great for the local housing market, but all the ones I’ve stayed at were clearly built for that purpose. So that’s the good news, I guess.

Did you read the rest of the thread? I already acknowledged that I was wrong about that part, but they’re saying they can’t get work because of him while still refusing to condemn him. The GoFundMe says he was “involved in a tragic shooting incident,” which is a pretty weasely way to say he killed people.

I also question that it really has anything to do with him. He’s certainly not having any issues making money, and there are a concerning number of people who consider him a hero, or at the very least aren’t bothered by what he did (see the comments on this post for a whole lot of evidence). Surely some of them are hiring.

Ok then I retract the part about driving. But I have a hard time feeling sympathy for her being unable to get a job. She’s repeatedly defended him and said she stands by him, and she allowed her 17 year old to buy a gun he couldn’t legally have and to drive without a license. Being associated with him is her doing. I have a family member who was a teenage white supremacist piece of shit (who was thankfully stopped by the FBI before he killed anyone), and you can bet nobody thinks I’m associated with him because I make it very clear where I stand. If I said he was a good person and I’ll always support him, I wouldn’t be shocked if employers said nah.

Huh. Have any of them considered a job? If the mom was capable of driving her child to another state to murder some people, I bet she could drive for uber or something. Or be a getaway driver for other criminals, idk.

I wish they’d all been more like you. Instead, all of the ones I had until my mid 20s were the kind of people who would tell us the policy was X and we absolutely could not do Y, and the second a customer bitched, suddenly Y was fine and they made us look like liars or idiots.

The thing that sucks is that the managers aren’t going to be the ones with the power to do that. Then again, all of my managers were spineless as fuck when I worked in a grocery store (literally never had employees’ backs), so they’ll probably just do an override on the price anyway.

I’d wait a couple of years and talk my ex-husband into keeping our house and renting it instead of selling it when we split up. It made sense at the time, since selling it was the fastest way to pay off all of our mutual debt (and most of our individual debt, too) and make it an easy split, but if we’d waited a few years, we would’ve made a solid 6 figure profit. I have no desire to be a landlord and mostly I’m glad we sold it to a nice family for what was still an affordable amount, but it would’ve been the only way I could ever afford to buy anything else on a single income, and it would’ve set him and his new wife up a lot better. I kind of hate the idea morally, but from a purely pragmatic view, it would’ve made sense.

And you know they’re in favor of mass deportations until it impacts their family members that are still undocumented. They just want other people’s family to be deported. It’s like all those stories that came out about white Trump voters who were upset about their undocumented spouse or their favorite restaurant owner or whoever being deported.

My car works perfectly with multiples of 5, so I prefer that. But you guys wanna hear something really fucking sick? I played a game where the volume would increase with DECIMAL POINTS. And it was borderline impossible to get to a whole number. It was always 8.17 or something. The devs were clearly some kind sociopath. Anyway, I noticed in the last update they changed it to whole numbers, so apparently enough people explained that that sort of thing is just insanity.

Oh I know. I worked in child support enforcement for a minute and now work in an office that takes passport applications. Thankfully, the Department of State’s stance is that we don’t need to argue about it, they’ll deal with it on their end, so it’s a lot less confrontational, but I had a guy on a child support case that was clearly getting advice from sovcit forums and he was a headache and a half.

A lot of them are also desperate. Plenty of people find their way to sovcit stuff because they’re in legal trouble of some kind that they don’t know how to handle, and everyone tells them they just need to face the consequences. Sovcits tell them actually, the government is wrong, they shouldn’t be in trouble at all, and if they just file these papers and say these words, it’ll all go away. I can see how people who aren’t great critical thinkers can get sucked into that.

Many years ago, I worked in a call center. I was sitting with someone who was new helping them take calls and both of our headsets were plugged into the phone. The trainee was helping a store employee and she was just being awful to him. While she went to get something from the customer, I muted the line and said, “God, what a bitch!” except my finger was hovering over the button and I hit it just in time for her to hear me say bitch. I fully panicked and hung up on her. Nobody ever said anything to either of us and this was back when landlines would occasionally cross, so hopefully she thought that’s what happened since she hadn’t heard my voice up until then.

Anyway, I’m pretty sure that’s the origin of why I still don’t trust mute or hold to this day. I’m not talking shit until I know that call is disconnected.

I don’t know that they really threaten the rule of law, since none of their bullshit ever actually works (especially as people become more aware of their specific brand of nonsense). I think the bigger issue is that quite a few of them will resort to violence, so they’re more of a threat to other people.

Are you shitting me that you think changing a word with an association most people have never even heard is more important than hundreds of thousands of people in this instance and others having their lives measurably improved? Having a criminal record can literally ruin someone’s life. It impacts the jobs they can get and where they can live. Pardoning them for some shit that never should’ve been a crime to start with is a huge deal.

But for sure, tell all those people you’d pick changing the word for the drug over pardons. That’s a good call.
