The spotify interface for podcasts is totally unintuitive- when I open my normal podcast app (like PocketCasts or Apple Podcasts) the first thing I want to see is a reverse chronological feed of the recent episodes from podcasts I’m subscribed to- this is kind of the basic functionality I expect from any podcast player. Spotify makes me have to hunt for which podcasts I’m subscribed to, and I can never find a consistent way to find this information.
I imagine that my fumbling taps to find the information I want count as “engagement” and “active screen time” from the spotify app analysis so their product team registers my frustration as a win on their side, but it’s really one of the strangest interfaces I’ve ever had to deal with. I only use the spotify podcast interface for the exclusives on the platform, for others I am still using apple podcasts or PocketCasts.
