This is what happened to me a couple years ago and I don’t even live in the US. I ended up with a bad cavity and my dentist extracted the tooth. I found out not long after that the tooth could have easily been saved. Thankfully it’s only one of my back teeth so no one even realises I’m missing one.

I agree with everything you’ve said, completely. We studied Gentileschi’s work during the first year of my Art History degree and the main thing that captivated me about her work (and still does) is how she portrayed the women in these scenes as being strong and powerful especially during this time period where everything was from a man’s point of view. She had a tragic life and it’s genuinely sad that art history has ignored her until towards the turn of the last century.

Same with all historical women artists unfortunately. There was a book from around around 1950 called “The Story of Art” that did not include a single woman (and also largely ignored non-white artists) which is fucking appalling. Thankfully the tide has been turning in recent times, I don’t know if you’ve read it but there was a book that came out a few years ago called “The Story of Art Without Men” which I loved.

This is exactly what I don’t understand about this claim lol. Why the fuck does it matter if someone from Minnesota or New York for example votes for a third party. The republicans haven’t won MN or NY in decades.

None. I’m pretty lax about blocking people and haven’t yet encountered anyone worth blocking.

I haven’t blocked any communities or instances since the instance I created my account on has defederated from lemmy.world and .ca. I’ve considered blocking sh.itjust.works but I’ve successfully avoided them so far.

Oh, we have found many ways to adapt to a world that frequently wants to harm us. I have, like, half a dozen trusted friends on speed dial just in case. I didn’t mention this in the post but I was about to call one of them until he started calling after me first.

This is an absolutely terrible country that rivals America in terms of racism and sexism and I am looking to leave asap.

It’s pretty cliche but I got the bus home and on the way we passed an animal farm. There were chickens in the outdoor pen and it just clicked in my mind that what I was eating were living creatures that could feel pain and emotions. Instead of going straight home I jumped off at the closest store and began to look into buying plant based meat alternatives. I finished my shop, went home, and immediately threw out all the meat products I still had. I was only vegetarian for about 6 months but then I went vegan and never looked back.

Nowadays I am WFPB and doing a lot better.

Thank you. It’s genuinely horrible what people have to go through. I wish I could carry some kind of weapon but literally any form of self defence is illegal where I live, if I fight back then I am just as guilty. And then people wonder why crime rates against women are going up.

I’ll be honest just talking about it and having people listen is more help than I could ask for, thank you.
