may kill a background app even when told not to
Most of the time this can disabled somewhere in the app permissions. i have done this for a couple of apps without much issue.

google firebase notification system
Why though? If a app has its own implementation this is a non issue really.
Normally yes. But they also have mailbox application that kind of acts as a message queue both ways
Oppenheimer 80+ GB 😅
I prefer the opposite. I want the best quality I can get often 4K remux. Storage is cheap nowadays and I don’t mind waiting a few days for a movie to download. Also I do have a 500/500 connection which helps.
I never said bleeding edge wouldn’t work. But bleeding edge comes with its own complications that might not be suited for a newbie
Why not use a combined library if I may ask? This would be similar to things like Spotify or tidal but then self hosted.
Their is briar. It is fully decentralized and works p2p over for.
I mean it is still miles ahead of snaps and the snap store
obviously a troll. And a stupid one at that
the reason why arch gets recommend a lot as a gaming distro is that it is bleeding edge. Their for has very up to date drivers and parches that can help gaming. But with the current state of gaming on Linux this is a bit less of a requirement. most distros are new enough for most games. Exception might be debian LTS or something.
So i totaly agree that choosing something other then arch for gaming is a good option if you are rather new to linux.
Take a look at Borg. It is a very well suited backup tool that has deduplication.
If you like to tinker you can accomplish the same and a load more with Home Assistant. I do not have a garage door but do have loads of automation that use multiple platforms together bundled in home assistant. The limit is really your own imagination with it.
Just to name a idea out of my head. I am not sure if the Meross MSG100 can be linked to home assistant but their is a high change it will. With the home assistant app on any phone for that matter. you can use anything as a trigger say distance, connection to wifi or even a wake word. then in home assistant make the automation to trigger the door to open.
The official site is best to get started. Personally i find it the most easy to run a container and configure a secondary Firefox profile: https://geti2p.net/en/
Just search protonmail honeypot and you get many results. I am not saying it is true. Just saying because a company gets accused of something doesn’t make it true.
Well proton has been accused of being a honeypot as well.
It is a necessary evil. Better make it as good as possible. Hosting your own mail server is not feasible in most cases
Wouldn’t this be solved with the birdge? I am thinking of going the paid plan anyway due to the custom domains.
The push notifications would be a issue for me. I am using GrapheneOS without any google services.
Also the calendar i am not 100% sure how I want to do it. I currently use Nextcloud and Caldav. Which for me works great when syncing with Etar on my phone and Evolution mail in the desktop. For my dad I have setup caldavsynchronizer for outlook as that is the email client he has used for years. When i would use Tuta id loose the nextcloud calendar because it can in no way synchronize with Tuta. With proton on the other hand I can use the bride for email and use the calendar how i am currently using it together with Etar on the phone.
On the other hand if say Tuta providers a calendar that is integrated and works with both the email client on the desktop and on the phone. the same goal is accomplished.
Might want to change the title a bit…
