Late to the party, but you may want to try Pokemon Reborn. It gets mixed reactions from players because its writing is considered edgy, but I do not mind the occasional drama and dark undertones. The added mechanics, field effects, branching storyline based on relationship choices, 18 gyms, Pokemon from generations 1 - 7, and so much more quality of life additions make it interesting and challenging imo. Bonus: It’s completed!
