I talk about the need for “shithead-proof social media,” meaning, “a shithead can’t buy your favorite social network and destroy it.” Then I tell them how I find great content and reading on Lemmy & kinda Mastodon (and also Bluesky, don’t hold it against me). I usually mention how they’re not perfect, but I still prefer them greatly to the shithead alternatives.
