Had a normal 9-5 gig and during the pandemic the company went fully remote. So I moved where the ocean is vast and the rents are lower ;-)

We settled on Tenerife, Spain because of the relatively cheap international schools and because we wanted to stay a bit longer (we don’t want to uproot our kid constantly). As EU citizens it was just much easier to stay here long term visa-wise etc. They do offer nomad visas with a 24% flat tax if you qualify for them. We’ve spend some time in SEA and noticed it’s much less fun with kids (Road safety, food sprayed with formaldehyde etc.). So right now we’re enjoying probably the best climate available within the EU and are very happy with the cost of living here.

Usually by not using it. Data plans are dirt cheap almost everywhere I went. I just get a sim card with a buttload of gigs and fire up a small wireless router. Within the EU you can use one sim card for all countries these days.

Tenerife, Spain. 1500€ for a town house very close to the Atlantic & community pool + 60€ in utilities. Not super cheap but we’re a family of three… paid a whole lot more where we came from and had “nice” views of dreary, rainy suburbia.
