I understand this notion, I simply was trying to specify which of these software you can use without paying anything and thus have a lower barrier of entry since it would be inefficient to explain this at the same time.
You are correct sorry, I was under the impression it was. I’m trying to edit my original post and that is edited, I don’t know if that will be updated in the cross posts as well.
I checked zrythm recently and haven’t personally used it but i will edit the thread adding it! I tried to keep it to things I’ve personally tested, but if you have other suggestions I’d be happy to add them.
Maybe connecting it with the threads of mastodon is a stretch, and I am not talking “Idea wise” who they’re copying I’m talking about the literal code of the meta app, it’s a goldmine for them a prebuilt app with most of the features you need and with a protocol that is having some kind of active community? Now maybe they didn’t literally fork mastodon, but the fact that the app seems clearly not finished, It’s like put together in the few weeks a lot of code was probably used or referenced. Now I can’t confirm or deny this, just saying that if they wanted to take the easy route, they definitely could have and from the record of such large corporations I can definitely see them do this.
I understand that ActivityPub ≠ Mastodon however from their UI it feels like a fork of Mastodon with all the Meta bs on top, i might be wrong but it just feels like they saw the opportunity and took. I say this because of even the naming of the app which seems like a direct reference to the Mastodon threads.
I think they’re using an instance of mastodon
I am working on just the thing! Hopefully will manage to have some sort of music suggestion embedded into it as well without the need of Spotify or whatever algorithm people use. Currently working on making it accessible for people to export their libraries from whatever streaming service they’re using.

Nicotine and Deemix(you need to pay for hifi for flac quality) is the way to go. I’ve struggled to do the same and now i am working on a gui app that sort of manages all of these sources together.
