I’m a big fan of all sorts of jazz music. So I had to watch this after reading your comment. Gosling never explains jazz music to a black person in this film.

Zach’s comment is funny but not accurate. The film is good but not great, imo. I do hope this inspires younger people to seek out and watch some of the classic musicals from previous eras, like Singin’ in the Rain and such but I doubt it will happen much.

I also dig older classic musicals myself, I saw cabin in the sky recently, and being inundated with the lala trailer always had me cringing to the point I can’t start watching it.

I like both of the main actors, but I think they should be trying out lesser known genuine musical talents anytime a musical is made rather than popular actors who can be elevated to decent singing or playing, which is a criticism I consistently hear about this movie.

Jazz doesn’t often hook me unless I hear something uniquely exciting or inspiring, so I’m not predisposed to lala.

But you know what, now I’ve talked so much s*** about it, I guess I should watch it so I have something to back up all this whining, haha.
