Depends on the state. In many states there are no “hate crimes”. They are enhancements to other crimes. When they catch the person and charge them, that’s when you’ll find out.
The 1st amendment allows you to burn books but you can’t do it to intimidate people on a protected class.

I think the issue is that it isnt being investigated as a hate crime, which makes the issue systemic.

In Europe hate crimes against Christians are up 44%. I haven’t found a stat for America but that’s a drastic rise in Europe.
