How is the cost of living in Hongkong these days? I’ll be visiting later this summer and wondering how much cash to bring. Accomodation is paid for so would need money for food, transportation, and any visits for museums. I’ve been to HK before so have done most of the touristy things already. Thanks!

Definitely on the expensive side in general. Comparable to other major cities like London for food. Transportation is better especially if you stick to public transit like MTR.

When was the last time you were here?

Hmm it has been 1:7.8 for as long as I remember. Anyway most restaurants / chain stores / shopping malls accept credit card so you might want to take that into consideration.

But if you want to spend time exploring the local food scene, local way of living etc, then bring more cash, as these places usually don’t let you pay by credit card.

Oh wow 7.8, whoops that’s a big difference.

Roughly how much USD would you suggest? I am definitely planning on doing mostly cash, just not sure how much to bring. I am planning to go to sun hing for breakfast, maybe somewhere in central for dinner with friends after work, lunch maybe go to parknshop or sth

If you take the frugal route, $300hkd per day should be just enough imo. Central will likely mean u need more $$
