    From government officials absolutely, but interestingly public opinion on Shinzo Abe turned on him in the aftermath of the assassination. A majority of Japanese people opposed giving him a state funeral, and the government ended up passing legislation to help victims of the Unification Church in direct response to the shooter’s stated motives.

      I don’t think trump would be too different tbh. The media can crow all they want, a ton of people hate his guts enough to not be mad if he died.

      Though some subset of trump supporters would probably try to start a civil war if he died, and it didn’t seem like Abe had a lot of fans that diehard
