I still listen to Chapo, but every time I’ve tried to listen to Joe I’ve turned it off. The guy is just so slow - I don’t mean his intelligence, I mean the pacing of his podcast is so slow that I get bored listening to it and my mind wanders. Slow pacing like that needs to be paired with something educational or thought provoking, which JRE generally isn’t.

The Chapos by contrast maintain a certain amount of energy through their episodes such that even when they’re talking about some objectively stupid shit I enjoy listening to it.

I remember him being so much more animated and personal in the early 2010s(even though he still believed in a lot of crackpot stuff)

I’m not sure if he actually changed or if I just grew up

He seemed couch locked the last couple of times I watched him. Like, he smoked too much weed and would rather be napping.

And I agree, he’s always been a crackpot. But I enjoy some of his guests who aren’t.

I think he has slowed down. Like even his responses i see in clips. He doesn’t say “whoa and this or that?!” He now goes “whooooa that’s wiiiiiiiiiild.”
